Born in Israel in 1968, Gal works as a professional artist after graduating from the Academic College of Eek Izrael.
Ilana is working with acrylic on canvas, mainly large scale paintings. The works are colorful, made of many layers of paint.
Her style developed from combining various graphic perceptions into the painting at the beginning and developed into her present style that incorporates multiple layers on the surface using various materials. As a mother of four children, she admits that they are one of her sources of inspiration - - figures, animals, unrealistic forms. The wild lines and unrestricted colors are full of liberty and imagination, like a child's painting. Some figures can be distinguished easily, like the human face or a bicycle, though the eighth to twelfth times of re-painted think multiple layer on the surface convey a strong feeling of "abstractness". The techniques of brushing, printing and adding particular materials onto the surface create its own charismatic tension through the rich and profound texture. The surface in no longer the representation of the world, but has itself become a world of abundance. It's a messenger of mystery, inspiration, incantation and humor.
As her works have a strong psychic expression and profound texture, they are often compared to the works of Jean Dubuffet or Karl Appel.
