"Gathering"
This work, “Gathering”, is about my life in the Kibbutz, a close knit community where people share their lives, and their stuff, with each other. The characters refer to the people and animals that I grew up with there. They’re funny, colorful and loud. The birds are an inseparable part of the nature in the Kibbutz. It was important for me to create a composition where the characters are interacting with each other gleefully, seemingly busy with a form of cooperative creation. I was inspired by master Karel Appel in forming my characters and choosing the colors I work with. For me, this painting speaks about joy, love and togetherness. I have noticed that in my paintings the strong colors somehow create a feeling of serenity and harmony, and they form a connection between the characters.
